What does their status page say right now?
Paste the address of a status page to learn which product serves it, what it says its overall state is, and which incidents are open. It runs once with a 10 second cap, the same runner a monitor uses; the result says where it ran.
How to read this
- Overall
- The state the page reports for itself: Operational, Degraded, Outage or Maintenance. A monitor raises an alert on Outage and a degraded one on Degraded; Maintenance reads as up.
- Incidents
- Every incident the page lists as open, worst first, with its impact and a link to the vendor's own write-up.
- Provider and page
- Which product serves the page (Statuspage, Instatus, Better Stack, incident.io, status.io) and the name the vendor gave it.
Questions
Which status pages does it read?
Pages served by Statuspage, Instatus, Better Stack, incident.io, status.io. It tries the fixed paths those products publish their summary on and nothing else; a page served by anything else is reported as not recognised.
Is this the same as checking whether the vendor is down?
No. It reads what the vendor chose to publish. A status page can lag a real outage by minutes or stay green through one; the reading is theirs, not a measurement of theirs.
Why is a private address refused?
Private and loopback addresses are refused: a check from outside your network can say nothing useful about them, and hostnag never dials into anyone's network on purpose.
