Who we are

The service

hostnag is a hosted monitoring service. You name the addresses you want watched, websites, ports, DNS records, certificates, domains and more, and hostnag checks them on a schedule from its own cloud locations. When something fails, or is about to expire, an alert goes out to the channels you have set up. There is no software to install to use hostnag itself. The Beacon is a separate, optional script you download, read and schedule yourself; it is not something hostnag installs, signs or updates for you.

Accounts and organizations

Each person signs in with their own account. An account can belong to one or more organizations, and every membership carries a role: owner, admin, member or viewer. You are responsible for who you invite into your organization, and for keeping your sign in credentials and any recovery codes safe.

Acceptable use

You agree to the following when you use hostnag:

• Only monitor hosts you own or are authorised to check.
• No private or loopback addresses as targets or resolvers.
• Do not use hostnag to probe, load test or attack systems that are not yours.
• Rate limits apply: at most one status report a second, and reported certificates are capped at 64 KB, alongside the limits of your plan.
• We may pause a monitor that is harming hostnag or a third party.

Plans, billing and changes

The Free plan needs no card. Pro and Business are billed monthly through Stripe. An upgrade applies immediately. If you downgrade, monitors beyond your new plan's limits are paused, never deleted, and you can bring them back by upgrading again or freeing up room. You can cancel any time from the billing page. Prices can change, and we will give notice before a change takes effect.

Your data and retention

Check results are kept for 30, 90 or 365 days depending on your plan. Monthly reports are kept for 3 or 12 months; Free keeps none. If you delete an organization, its data is removed. See our privacy policy for more detail.

Availability

The Free plan carries no uptime commitment. A monitoring gap is possible on any plan: a check yet to run, a location that cannot reach a target, or a failure hostnag has not yet confirmed. hostnag is one signal among others, and should not be your only safeguard for a system where downtime is safety critical.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, hostnag is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. hostnag is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is capped at the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim.

Termination

You can delete your organization at any time from its settings. We may suspend an account for a breach of these terms, with notice where that is practical.

Governing law

These terms are governed by [Governing law and venue].

Changes

We may update these terms. When we do, we post the change here with a new date at the top of this page. Continuing to use hostnag after a change takes effect means you accept it.
